Another day in the P90X books for me as I completed the first of many plyometrics sessions today. I have to admit I was not sure what to expect with this workout. I have done plyometrics before, but lately I had been focusing more on my weight training that cardio has taken a backseat. For those unfamiliar with the term "plyometrics" it is essentially known as "jump training," Basically you are doing a lot of jump squats, jump lunges, monster truck tire jumps, etc. This workout lasts just under an hour and boy was I worn out by the end of it. Below is a small sampling of what was included:
Fortunately, there were small breaks throughout the program, which helped, but I have to admit that I had to stop a few more times to get my heart rate back in the zone. I was happy to see, however, that Tony Horton and his crew even had to stop for a breath here and there as well. What I also enjoyed about this workout was that one of his team members did modified versions of many of the exercises which helped me feel like I was still doing a good job but not overdoing it on my first try. The exercises are grouped together with about four moves in each one and then you repeat each group. I have a feeling this plyometrics workout and I will become good friends as it is just the extra butt kicking I need most days. 88 more days to go. Tomorrow will focus on upper body work again. So to that I say, "Bring it Tony. I'm ready for ya."
